Venla ilona Blom is a multi-award-winning Finnish vocalist and composer known for her distinctive voice and boundary-crossing artistry. She has PERFORMED IN NEARLY 30 COUNTRIES and her vocals have been FEATURED in movie soundtracks, TV-shows and trailers such as HBO:s hit series Game of Thrones.
Venla Ilona Blom is a contemporary vocalist specialised in extended vocal techniques, beatboxing, and traditional singing styles rooted in Scandinavian and Finno-Ugric folk music.
Her vocal group Tuuletar is one of the most prestigious and internationally acclaimed ensembles in the Finnish folk music scene today. She has performed as a soloist in a wide range of projects with big bands, symphony orchestras, and choirs.
In spring 2025, she made her successful opera debut at the Semperoper Dresden in Innocence by Kaija Saariaho, performing the role of Markéta—a part specially written for a singer with Finno-Ugric folk singing abilities. In the 2026/27 season, she will return to the role in Theater Bremen’s production of Innocence.
